If you travel in the Balkans, you shouldn’t miss Lake Ohrid. The lake and its crystal clear blue water however, is not the only reason that draws so many visitors. Another reason is the architecture and the rich culinary tradition. In summer, it is very crowded and in addition, you probably won’t enjoy the atmosphere. It is totally another story in low season. Surely a visit in this season helps to understand why UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site. By the way it is one of the few cases where a site is both Natural and Cultural Heritage.
Adventure
The Dajti Mountain National Park is standing just in the outskirts of the capital, direction east. There are two peaks to reach. The highest one of them, is not easy to reach due to some civil infrastructure at the top of it. Our hike goues to the Tujani Peak.
Shen Gjergj is a tiny attractive village which is located one hour and a half, direction south east of Tirane. The area is famous for its diary products as herding is the main activity of the locals.
Holta Canyon is one of those adventures that takes your breath away, the first time that you go for it. This place is located just a couple of hours away from the capital of Albania, Tirane.
